My Fellow Brothers & Sisters,
I am excited and proud to announce that during a specially called meeting of the System Council U8 on April 3, 2012; a motion was made that the System Council which includes our five Local Unions, to support and adopt the IBEW ''Utility Code of Excellence” program.
Your IBEW System Council U-8 Officers and Delegates unanimously voted to support the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers "Utility Code of Excellence" program for all members of our organization working on Progress Energy property in Florida.
Our next step in the process is to coordinate with our 5th District International Representatives and training specialists to begin the training of all the Local Union Officers, Job Stewards, Code of Excellence Stewards and Members.
We have already begun to distribute posters and other information at the work sites. Please check your local Union bulletin board for more information. We will be communicating through this web site and through our officers as we move forward in our training process.
The Code of Excellence program will be a key focus of our organization. I am looking forward to meeting with our members as we communicate this program over the next several months.
Please remember to continue to work safely and to watch out for your fellow Sisters and Brothers. Our organization was founded on ensuring a safe work environment for our members and to this day has remained our principle focus.
