System Council U8 and Duke Energy met in Wildwood earlier today and swapped proposal packages. Attached are the Union and Company proposals. We will be at the table to begin bargaining on October 7th and by all indications, it is going to be difficult and contentious. Please continue to work safely and be your brother's keeper. Sisters and Brothers,

Please see the attached Company benefits proposals presented to the Union today. The Company is asking you to give away your federally protected right to bargain over medical benefits. They can never take this from you...you can only give it away. We've told them multiple times since they first brought this back in 2013 that this isn't North Carolina and our members won't accept it. Furthermore, this body, SCU8, will never recommend ratification with this "boiler plate language" part of the package. There are times when we have to stick our flag in the ground and be ready to die on a hill. In Solidarity.
